This assignment was givven to me in preparation for a current events debate in my English 2 class. Before we chose our topic for the debate, we were given the task of creating a debate proposal of a topic of our choice. I personally chose Drug Testing for Professional Sports. I created a title page, abstract and works cited page. The Abstract was more of a summary of the pros and cons of drug testing for pro sports. I cited my work in MLA format and described the cites I used. I also had a Running head at the top pf every page saying "DRUG TESTING FOR SPROTS" which was my topic.
This taught me...
As I completed this assignment, I discovered the ins and outs of making a debate proposal. It gave me a "sneak peak" of what the actual debate was going to consist of. Exploring the different websites that talk about pros and cons of different topics showed how there would be two opposing sides of the debate and how they wouljd differ. This prior knowledge made me even more prepared for the actual debate.
