Hispanic Athlete Research Project

During the "Sports/Athletics" unit in Spanish Two, I was given an assignment that involved researching one professional hispanic athlete.  I chose to research Lionel Messi, an Argentine soccer player. In order to complete this assignment, research on Messi's childhood, family, career, achievments, and culture had to be conducted.  It was important to include lots of information about his home and how he grew up, because the purpose of the project was to incorperate the hispanic aspect of the athletes life to their athletic career.  Making connections from what was learned in the sports unit of Spanish 2 with the hispanic culture was the key to success for this project.

In completing this project, I learned to carefully read as I find different websites to find facts on.  It is important to look at multiple websites to make sure that the facts that have been found are accurate.  I also learned not to be repetitive of facts throughout the PowerPoint.  It is impotant to have different facts  under multiple catagories.

About

This is a quiz that I took at the very beginning of the year in my Spanish 2 class. This unit was about my house, the rooms in my house, describing my house and what is in it, and using direction to do so.  Along with the multiple choice section, there was also a writing section.  We were required to write a paragraph describing my house and the furniture in it.

This taught me...

This assignment was one of the first real writing assignments, so it gave me a good boost in the writing department for the rest of the year.  I learned multiple different spanish words and phrases that can be used in writing and speaking.  At the end of the year, I am now realizing that this writing is much more simple then what will be in Spanish 3 and what was on the exam.  This is only present tense, so much more was learned throughout the year.  Basically, I learned the simple and basic aspects of the Spanish language.
